I saw something on the internet this morning that reminded me of one of the times I was subjected to homophobic harassment.

This was many years ago when I still lived in Athens, GA, but after college. I was walking down the street with a friend of mine (Also a man, obvi.) and this big, black SUV full of frat boys drove by us and one of them screamed out the window at us as the others laughed hysterically.

I was shocked and didn’t know how else to respond, so I gave them a thumbs up and shouted, “THANKS! YOU, TOO!”

At least, I’m pretty sure it was intended to be homophobic harassment. I’m kind of tickled at the idea that kids these days might just be really bad at bigotry.
